Chris Jones

Chris Jones (Kris Jonz) is a composer, sound designer, video artist and musician working in all forms of film, TV, and new media. His material is arrived at via live improvisation, field recording, software-based manipulation and other aleatoric performance practices. He is a performer in the NYC free jazz community (upright bass, Chapman Stick) and a one-time percussion student with Frank Cassara (Steve Reich, Philip Glass). Additionally, Chris is a graduate from Berklee College of Music’s Film Scoring department.

His diverse work regularly occupies both avant-garde and commercial landscapes. His performance and recording collaborations include: The MoMA, The Museum of Contemporary Art (L.I.), Guild Hall, The Watermill Center, East End Arts Council, CBGB’s, The Knitting Factory, Gary Lucas, Daniel Carter, The Piano Salon at YASI, ABC No Rio, Kaufman Music Center, The Tilles Center, and Southampton Arts Center.

His music productions include campaigns and branding for: McDonald’s, Mercedes-Benz, Vogue, Quentin Tarantino, American Horror Story, Samsung, Intel, Contemporary Arts Center (NOLA), Montblanc, Jeep Japan (with artist Sputniko!), Reebok, Breaking Bad, TAG Heuer, Red Bull, Jean-Claude Jitrois, Vera Wang, The Mayo Clinic, GEICO, Rémy Martin, Getty Images, American Idol, Gigi Hadid, Garmin, and Honda.

Based in The Hamptons/NYC, he is a Berklee College of Music Mentor, faculty-in-residence at East End Arts Council, and an alumni of The Watermill Center Artist Residency Program. His work is in the permanent collections of The Watermill Center and The Museum of Contemporary Art (L.I.).
